Light Up The Room At Your Next Event With Cecilia’s DIY Glowing Out Facial

Hello Gorgeous!

As I’ve written about before, many of my celebrity clients like to come in for a facial just before red carpet events. Usually, I give them my signature treatment, the Sculpt and Empower Microcurrent Facial, which immediately leaves skin looking lifted, toned, hydrated and refreshed. While this is a great treatment to get before an important event, I know that many of you don’t live locally and can’t make it into my skincare studio for an in-person treatment. That’s what gave me the idea to write an article for anyone who’s ever asked, “What’s the best pre-going out facial?” Here are three things that will give you glowing, look-at-me skin in just 15 minutes:

For those really special nights when you want to look your absolute best, I recommend starting your skin ritual with an application of my DIY Glowing Skin Serum (recipe below) to provide nourishment to the skin. This serum includes camellia oil, which is very emollient and helps to soften the skin and help it to retain moisture. It also utilizes carrot seed oil, which is known for its anti-aging properties thanks to its high concentration of antioxidants. While in this facial I apply this prior to performing gua sha to provide the necessary lubrication for the ritual, this serum can be applied daily to hydrate the skin.

Next, after you’ve gently massaged a few drops of the serum to your skin, it’s time to perform facial gua sha to lift and firm the skin. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this term, gua sha is an ancient facial therapy used by emperors and empresses. The methods, techniques and instruments are based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. While the results of this therapy don’t quite compare to the results from a microcurrent facial, this ancient technique for lifting the skin is the closest you can get without any fancy devices or machines. All you need is a gua sha tool, such as my Rose Quartz Gua Sha Tool. Follow the instructions below to perform this ritual, gliding over the skin gently and never pulling. If ever you feel like the stone doesn’t move easily over the skin’s surface, apply a few more drops of serum to the face before continuing. After you complete gua sha on the entire face, you’ll notice a lifted, more toned appearance.

Finally, I recommend finishing your facial with a mask to prepare the skin for makeup – though it’s entirely possible that your skin will look so flawless that you can skip the foundation and flaunt your bare skin instead. I love prepping my complexion with a hydrating mask like Ilike Organic Skincare’s Carotene Essentials Rich Mask. Not only does this mask deeply hydrate, but it also contains loads of vitamins and antioxidants that your skin will need to look gorgeous all night long. This mask contains carrot, calendula, cantaloupe and sorb apple berries, all of which are rich in beta-carotene, an essential antioxidant. It also has zinc to soothe and calm irritated skin. As the final step in your going out facial, this mask will truly leave your skin looking stunning!

Do you usually give yourself a facial before a big event? Have you ever tried making your own face serum or performing gua sha on yourself? Feel free to try out my suggestions and see how you light up the room with your glowing complexion at your next big event! I would like to thank you so much for reading and so generously sharing! It’s always fabulous sharing these wonderful tips with you all!

With all my love, Cecilia
