Good Morning Beautiful!

I hope that all of you enjoyed your first week on my “New Year, New You” Cleanse! By now, you can see that it isn’t a cleanse in the traditional sense, where you drink nothing but juice for days on end and are left feeling less than satisfied. Rather, my cleanse takes a holistic approach by aligning your skin, body, and mental goals to help you start 2017 feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, as opposed to rundown and exhausted.

As I mentioned last week, now is the time to focus on general goals, as opposed to specific, unattainable goals that lead to letdown. This week’s theme to focus on is self-acceptance, which is something that I think we all always need to continue working on. No one is perfect, but I think in this age of social media, it’s all too easy for us to glamorize other peoples’ lives. We allow ourselves to get dragged down by the images of photoshopped perfection that constantly bombard us, ultimately leaving us feeling like we are lacking. I’m here to encourage you to let go of anything that is holding you back and focus on the amazing things you accomplish everyday. This week’s skin, food, and mind breakdown will help you see just how amazing you are!

Skin

I find Audrey Hepburn’s quote quite fitting for this week’s topic: “I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.” It’s so important that we remember that beauty starts from within and attitude is everything. Recently, we had a person unsubscribe to our newsletter, commenting “old age – stopped trying to fight it,” which made me want to discuss the Cecilia Wong Skincare ethos and our approach to aging. This subscriber’s comment actually made me sad because that is not the message I am trying to convey. It’s not about fighting to look younger – it’s about aging gracefully, loving and accepting yourself, and, most of all, embracing it. I don’t think anyone should ever “give up” regardless of what life brings. Rather, embrace what makes you beautiful!

Here at Cecilia Wong Skincare, we fight the stigma that we should look the same at age 60 as we did at age 20. Society has put pressure on us to look a certain way but I want you to embrace healthy skin at all ages. Don’t let others tell you what is or is not beautiful. Decide for yourself to accept your skin, while still striving for it to be radiant and healthy (it is your largest organ afterall and it has an impact on the rest of your body too!). By using all-natural products, such as our Black Currant Serum and Rose Serum Spray, combined with cutting edge technology in the treatment room like Microcurrent Treatments and LED Light Therapy, we help you age gracefully and feel good in your own skin (literally). My clients can expect to leave a treatment looking revitalized and glowing, with skin that looks more plump and supple than before. However, at the end of the day, it is still their skin and they always look the most beautiful when they feel comfortable in it.

Food

Last week, we focused more on things that can be added into your daily routine to make you feel better. This week, I want you to focus on the connection between what you eat and how you feel. Certain foods have a way of making us feel guilty when we eat them. Many people, particularly women, tend to have an all or nothing attitude when it comes to food. They think that because they veered from their normal diet that their whole day is ruined and therefore, head into a downward spiral of shame. We need to accept the fact that eating a cookie or two is not going to ruin anything. Rather, I suggest adopting a “Beginner’s Mind” attitude, by always knowing that it’s okay to start again at any time. Remember: we all fall down sometimes but we show true strength by how we get back up. So instead of bingeing on the whole box of cookies, chase that one cookie with a shot of chlorophyll and get right back on track. Your body will thank you!

Mind

This week, I’m pushing you to become comfortable with where you are in your personal journey right now. Implement the same “Beginner’s Mind” attitude you use toward eating in everything you do. For example: Do you have a difficult time meditating without getting distracted? Don’t stress about it! Be kind to yourself and remember that you can start again and drop back into it at any time. The key here is to make your home a judgment free zone.

Empower yourself for succeeding, rather than tearing yourself down for a mistake. Remember that you are your own biggest critic and now is the time to put an end to this kind of negativity. Be in the moment and accept where you are now, as well as how far you have come. Focus on radiating positivity to those around you and you will undoubtedly have it returned to you by others.

Do you think you may be your own worst critic? Have you tried working on accepting yourself rather than trying to change? Would you try following my suggestions to feel your best in 2017? Let me know if try following my plan and how it makes you feel more comfortable in your own skin!

I would like to thank you so much for reading and so generously sharing! It’s always lovely sharing these amazing tips with you all!

With all my love,

Cecilia
