Happy Tuesday Lovely!
I hope you all had a wonderful Father’s Day this past weekend and enjoyed spending time with your loved ones (and maybe even pampering your dad!). This week I wanted to discuss a topic that is near and dear to my heart: animal cruelty. I am passionate about my love of animals, which is why my namesake skincare line has never tested on them. I grew up with multiple pets around the house and got my first dog at sixteen years old. From the farthest back I can recall, I’ve been drawn to protecting and caring for animals. Kindness and compassion are the two main pillars under which I live my life. Personally, I have been blessed with so many things in my life and am grateful for what I have received, so I believe it’s my responsibility to help those that are less fortunate.
Because of my passion for helping animals, I feel it’s important for me to be their voice and stand up for them because they can’t. Every quarter, I donate a portion of the proceeds from my products to one of the following charities: Mighty Mutt, Bide A Wee, Pet Pardons, Animal Rescue Corps, The Animal Rescue Site, Trikala Shelter Dogs, and 100+ Abandoned dogs of Everglades Florida, among others. When I shop, I like to factor in my own ethical beliefs into every purchase and feel better when I know that a portion of the profits is being donated. I’m proud that with every product you purchase from Cecilia Wong Skincare, you support an animal in need.
My skincare line is living proof that you can have non-toxic, cruelty-free products that yield real results by utilizing natural ingredients derived from Mother Earth. However, that does come at a price. Sourcing every last ingredient in each of my handmade products, all of which are grown and blended together in America, can be costly. That’s why I wanted to put together a list of my favorite cruelty-free cosmetics that can be found at the drugstore. Though these products are not all 100% natural, they are all 100% cruelty free, making them wallet-friendly and ethically responsible choices. Here are my picks:
Clockwise from top right: Physician’s Formula Organic Wear® 100% Natural Origin Mascara ($9.95), Flower Pots Powder Blush ($10), Physician’s Formula Eye Definer Felt Tip Eye Marker ($7.95), Flower Lip Suede Velvet Lip Chubby ($9), Pixi GelTint & SilkGloss ($12), Pacifica Sundreams Lotus Infused Bronzer Duo ($12), Pacifica Magical Multi-Pencil Prime & Line Lips, Eyes, & Face ($11), Pixi Glow-y Powder ($16).
I have personally experimented with each of these products and found that they work well, have an excellent price point, and, of course, do not test on animals. Remember: you have the power to support animal cruelty or fight against it. By no longer supporting companies that participate in the act of animal cruelty, you are helping end the suffering of animals in the beauty industry. Ultimately, I find that there’s nothing better than looking good and feeling good by using cruelty-free products.
How do you feel about cruelty-free beauty? Would you try to choose products that commit to no animal testing? Let me know if you try any of my recommendations and how they make you look beautiful without harming animals or breaking the bank!
